About the Common Equipment Room

Our Common Equipment Room is located at Room 517 of the New Agricultural Chemistry Building. The room was originally owned by our Biochemistry Division; in 2008, it was recruited into the Technology Commons of the College of Life Science (TechComm) and established as the TCX-C Facility Core. Currently, a total of 19 instruments and equipment are provided to members of the College of Life Science.

Seahorse XFe24 Extracellular Flux Analyzer

Instrument Description:

The Seahorse Bioenergetics Analyzer is used to immediately detect the rates of oxygen consumption and acid production during cellular metabolism. Without contacting or harming cells, it continuously monitors changes in cellular energy by detecting variations in the concentration of oxygen and hydrogen ions in the cellular environment. It is patented and currently the only instrument globally capable of synchronously detecting both aerobic and anaerobic respiration, covering overall energy metabolism. This system has been widely applied in translational medicine, cancer research, aging, drug screening, toxicology, immunology, metabolic diseases, cell quality monitoring, and various other fields.

Instrument Services:

  1. Measurement of oxygen consumption rate (OCR) of cells, tissues, or mitochondria.
  2. Determination of extracellular acidification rate (ECAR) of cells or tissues.
  3. Can measure up to 24 samples in a single run (3-4 blank samples are recommended).

Instrument Location (For reservations, please email):

Room 107, Red Brick House, Laboratory of Fu-Jung Lin (Department of Biochemical Science and Technology, College of Life Science, National Taiwan University)
