Research

  • To set up in vitro and in vivo models for obesity research.
  • Dietary components regulate obesity-related metabolic disorders, immune responses and cancer development.
  • To explore the mechanisms of bioactive function of seed peptide lunasin.

  1. The effects of dietary components on obesity-related immune and metabolic disorders
  • Obese population is globally increasing nowadays, who are easily suffering chronic diseases development. During adiposity, adipocytes play an endocrine organ and release mediators such as adipokines, cytokines, and chemokines to recruit multiple immune cells. Immune cells such as macrophages, B cells, and T cells highly infiltrate into the adipose tissues and promote the development of several diseases such as T2DM, metabolic dysfunction, and cancers. We focus on the effects of dietary compounds on immunomodulation, glucose utilization, and metabolites production in obese cellular and mice models.
  1. Dietary components execute chemoprevention of obesity-related cancers
  • In adiposity, adipocytes and surrounding cells cross-talk and secret multiple mediators, facilitated a tumor-favorable microenvironment. We explore that dietary factors intervene in neoplastic cells and animals, and investigate the possible mechanisms of chemoprevention.
  1. To explore the mechanisms of action of seed peptide lunasin
  • Lunasin is a natural peptide that exists in seeds with multiple bioactivities, and has been demonstrated its bio-activities such as anti-tumor, anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, and anti-cholesterol properties. We focus on the effects of lunasin on obesity-related metabolic and immune disorders, and cancer chemoprevention. The study might contribute to prevent and auxiliary therapy obesity related diseases, and guide the industry to develop effective and convenient supplements.
